In July 2010, we embarked on a "New Beginning," committed to making Sumter County Schools one of the highest achieving rural school districts in Georgia. As part of our commitment to realize the district's vision of graduating all students, we established six priorities as a foundation to accomplish that goal. These priorities are: (1) student achievement; (2) operational efficiency; (3) customer service; (4) public relations and marketing; (5) student discipline; and (6) employee professionalism.

I want to encourage each of you and all of you - SCS employees, community members, parents, teachers and taxpayers - to be involved in your schools.

You can not have a great city without a "world-class" public school system. Here at SCS, we are focused on our core mission which is teaching and learning, period. Public education is a big job, and a critical one. How well we educate our students will affect the economic development and quality of life in Sumter County far into the future.

Here at SCS we ask three questions to evaluate all that we do: Is it what's best for students? Is it educationally sound? Is it fiscally responsible? We are committed to providing the highest quality education possible for all of our students.
