SUMTER PRIMARY SECOND GRADERS AGAIN TRAVEL TO ATLANTA FOR OVERNIGHT EXPERIENCE
STUDENTS EAGER TO BOARD CHARTER BUSES TO ATLANTA
SUMTER PRIMARY SECOND GRADERS AGAIN TRAVEL TO ATLANTA FOR OVERNIGHT EXPERIENCE Initiated by now retired Sumter Primary Principal, Mrs. Valerie Duff, a fine arts-filled and overnight experience to Atlanta, continues at Sumter Primary School. Despite the 7:15 a.m chill, 150 excited students, teachers and chaperones gathered on the front grounds of Sumter Primary for a fifth overnight trip to Atlanta.
Mrs. Cindy Hughes, Principal of Sumter Primary, vowed to continue the experience for second graders. "This overnight trip to Atlanta for our second grade students is a great way for them to enjoy actual fine arts productions. As a Fine Arts Academy, Sumter County Primary provides an early introduction to the diverse avenues of fine arts expression. We hope to be an early stimulus for students as they continue their participation in the great fine arts programs in Sumter County Schools," said Mrs. Hughes.
The group will be guests of The Omni Hotel at CNN Center. This site will allow walking access to most venues they will enjoy. Upon arrival to Atlanta, the party will enjoy dinner at the downtown Varsity Restaurant. Also included in their agenda will be a visit to the Center for Puppetry Arts and the play, "Peter Pan." Also scheduled is enjoyment of The Georgia Aquarium and Imagine It/The Children's Museum of Atlanta.
The students will also enjoy free time in Centennial Park, and the Fountain of Lights show. Upon their return to Americus, the students will stop and enjoy a light snack. Many local stakeholders provided scholarships to help defray the cost of the experience.
Here, three charter buses prepare to load snacks, luggage, students and adult travelers to a fine arts and overnight experience in Atlanta.
