          LOCAL FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA MEMBER ADVANCES TO SOUTH GEORGIA REGIONAL WELD-OFF

Recently, the Americus-Sumter High South Campus Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter competed in the Area 5 welding career development event at ABAC in Tifton, Georgia. The team garnered a strong third place finish this year. The team members were Mickey Griffin, Corderious Smith, Oscar Chavira, and Dillon Dixon. Mickey Griffin placed second in the area of Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding and    Dillon Dixon placed first in the area of brazing. Dillon Dixon will now advance to the South Georgia “Top Gun” Weld-Off hosted by the State FFA at ABAC,on April 28, 2012.
