SARAH COBB CELEBRATES CRCT EVENT WITH STUDENT FUN AND RELAXATION
After exceeding the $2000 goal for the American Cancer Society and the local Relay for Life, administrators and teachers turned their efforts to address the potential stress of students for the next-week administration of the Criterion Reference Competency Test (CRCT). "We raised over $2200 for Relay for Life and now our efforts are to celebrate the weather and the physical mental releases for our students. The CRCT administration can be a stressful time for both teachers and students but with our "Shoot For Fun" activities and a restful weekend, we will be ready," assured Principal Barbara Watford.

For the "Shoot For Fun" day of celebration, students enjoyed creative finger-nail polishing for girls and a diverse offering of creative and energy-exertion events. With sidewalk painting, jump rope, basketball 3-point shooting and relay, led by Coach Steve Smith, students enjoyed the element of competition and creative expression. "This FRIDAY was a day of casual, yet competitive fellowship for our students. The day was designed to be fun and a time when 'kids could be kids,'. Together, we plan to attain the highest results from the CRCT," said Mrs. Angela Pena', chairman of the Shoot For Fun celebration.

The CRCT (Criterion-Referenced Competency Test) is a standardized test given to students in Georgia to assess individual student performance of the Georgia Performance Standards, school systems' teaching of Georgia Performance Standards, and the general state of education in Georgia.  The CRCT evaluates the subjects of reading, English/Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science.
