AMERICUS-SUMTER HIGH STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE
Americus-Sumter High School students will participate in the Kennesaw Sate University’s 27th Annual High School Model United Nations conference on March 5-6, 2012. Our school represents two countries, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Sultanate of Oman. Upon receiving assignments of their counties and committees, students began their research and learning about the United Nations and the UN bodies, researching the history, economy and foreign policy, the issues covered by their committees including learning rules and procedures, writing resolutions, and public speaking. We wish our delegation well as they represent our school during the two-day conference. They will be sponsoring or co-sponsoring resolutions that address major world problems and offer realistic solutions to these problems. In preparation for their competition, the students were invited to visit with President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter and ask questions about foreign policies and various world issues. The Carters were very impressed with the students and their questions.
