EXPERIENCE FORMS ODYSSEY OF THE MIND TEAM AT SUMTER COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL
With the selection of Problem 5 for their creative solution, three of the seven selected team members share a total of six years of experience as members of earlier Odyssey of the Mind teams. "Each year, we are challenged with our creative solution of a chosen problem. We also are asked to continue the OOTM program as we move to upper grades. We want to go to World Finals this year," said third-year team member, Ozi Ghimire.

Problem 5, "Odyssey Angels," is open to grade Divisions I, II, III, and IV. The team will create and present a performance where a group of students travel throughout one or more team-created places where they encounter negative situations. These “Odyssey Angels” change what they find and turn them into positive situations. On their journey, they help two individuals with different problems and help save an entire community from a bad situation. One Odyssey Angel cannot speak, and another has a special team-created power. A maximum of $125 can be spent on backdrop design and stage prop creation. Along with the a maximum of 8-minute for the long-term problem solution, each team undergoes Spontaneous Solutions of unknown subjects.
