ANGELA PENA TEACHER OF THE MONTH IN SUMTER COUNTY SCHOOLS
Each month, Principals of Sumter County Schools can nominate outstanding teachers in their schools as "Teacher of the Month." After receipt of the nominations, the final selection is made by a panel of local school stakeholders. This month, Mrs. Angela Pena, a 4th grade Special Education teacher at Sarah Cobb Elementary was selected. She was presented a gift certificate from The Sheppard House at 1608-H East Forsyth Street of Americus.

In her nomination Principal Barbara Watford said, "Mrs. Angela Pena is a fourth grade special education teacher. She goes above and beyond to help her students learn the Georgia Performance Standards by working with students during her planning time and after school. Mrs. Pena has a wonderful relationship with her students and parents. She volunteers her personal time to assist with after school activities. She has served on several school committees and presently on the Sarah Cobb Organizational Planning for Excellence (SCOPE) Team. Her natural rapport with students, teachers, and parents demonstrates her love for children and her dedication to help them be successful i everything they do. Mrs. Pena is an asset to Sarah Cobb, and her hardworking dedication is a model for other teaches to emulate." After the presentation, Mrs. Pena commented, "I have been here before and the smell of goodness will bring me back again and again. I really appreciate this gift and recognition for our schools."

Here, Dr. Roy Brooks presents the gift certificate to Mrs. Pena as Mrs. Watford joins her Teacher of the Month.
