STALEY  MIDDLE SCHOOL TOP SPELLERS COMPETE IN SPELLING BEE

Staley's top spellers recently gathered in the school's Media Center to vie for the title of 1st place in the SMS Spelling Bee. Competition was held by grade levels.  In the 6th grade, after 14 rounds, Fayquerria Ruffin earned the title of Spelling Bee Winner for the 6th grade.  2nd place was awarded to Dakayerrion Thomas, and 3rd to Kailia Youngblood.  In the 7th grade the 1st place Speller was Joseph Blaisell-Ndaayezwi, with 2nd going to Niesha Nims and 3rd to Thaddius Harris.  The 8th grade spellers were eliminated one by one until only Grace Cato and Deshavia Davis were left going head to head for 1st place.  After numerous round between the two girls Grace Cato emerged with 1st place. Deshavia was awarded 2nd and Brooklyn McNeal 3rd place.  Each of the 1st place winners will represent Staley in the SCS District Spelling Bee to be held February 9th. 2nd place winners will serve as alternates at the District Bee.  Congratulations to all of the students who participated!
