DR. SAM MILLER MENTORS WITH ALL AT SUMTER COUNTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The recent Fall Festival at Sumter County Elementary School was a time for community leaders, volunteers, school board members, mentors, central office staff, and law enforcement officers to join some 300 parents and over 600 students to share in the celebration of education at Sumter County Elementary School.

Although some adult mentors were unable to attend the celebration, Dr. Sam Miller, Vice-President of Student Affairs at Georgia Southwestern State University, used the time to visit with other students. Dr. Miller's mentee student, Christopher Golphin, was not present. Dr. Miller sat at a table with three other students and quickly entered into some exciting dialog concerning food and the exciting sack lunch to be provided on the upcoming Early Release day. "Do you like all of foods in your sack lunch?", asked Dr. Miller. With some response about their dislike for bags of chips and other treats, Dr. Miller reminded the students that he would return on Friday, the Early Release Day, to receive all of the foods they did not want. It was a time of laughter and bonding with new students at Sumter County Elementary School.

With smiles and happy thoughts about their time with Dr. Miller, Xavier White, Adrian Johnson and Braylin Ingram parted with handshakes before their return to classes.
