SUMTER PRIMARY STUDENTS EXPERIENCE Wii TECHNOLOGY AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Wii DANCES AT SUMTER PRIMARY
SUMTER PRIMARY STUDENTS EXPERIENCE Wii TECHNOLOGY AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION Sumter County Primary School Physical Education student teacher, Coach Laura Lowe, led the children in Wii dances during P.E., as part of her lesson plan requirements to incorporate technology into her lesson. Students were shown the video on a big projector screen, so that all children could see and follow the dance steps. The Wii is a game console created by Nintendo. It steers a little away from the traditional gaming experience of using a controller and pushing buttons and joysticks. It is motion sensitive, so the games use different motions to play. For example, in the game Wii Sports, you swing the controller like a bat to swing your character's bat. Some games have more complex control techniques. The physical aspect of the game is what makes this technology so popular with people who aren't interested in the traditional video game experience. Students at SCPS had a great time with the Wii.
