THE AMERICUS TIMES-RECORDER RECEIVES 2011 GSBA PRINT MEDIA BEACON AWARD Notice was received today that the Georgia School Board Association (GSBA) Awards Committee has selected The Americus Times Recorder to receive a 2011 GSBA Print Media Beacon Award. The newspaper will be honored at the GSBA/GSSA Conference scheduled for December, 2-3, 2011, at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta. The Beacon Award will be presented during the Luncheon Session on Friday, December 2, at 12:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom.
According to the GSBA website, “This award has been expanded to separately recognize print and electronic media representatives/organizations whose coverage over time has created understanding of public education issues by informing the general public about programs, policies and/or issues affecting the public schools, students, and/or communities.”
The Americus Times Recorder was established in 1879 and is the Official Legal Organ of Sumter County.
