AMERICUS-SUMTER HIGH SCHOOL AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT RECYCLES
Recently, the Americus Sumter High School Agriculture Department collaborated with Mr. Walt Young, owner of Ellaville Recycling to go lean and green and recycle its metal used for teaching students how to weld. “One of the goals of the Ag Department and the FFA here at Americus Sumter High school is to teach the students the value of being thrifty, says Mr. Dixon, Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor. “I often tell my students that the money you save is as important as the money you make!”
Mr. Walt Young took time out of his busy schedule to take a large container to the rear of the Ag Department shop so that it would be convenient to load up all the old used metal. New metal was purchased with the funds gained from this recycling program and that saved the school district money. Mr.Walter Knighton, Principal at Americus High and CTAE Director, Dr. Sharon Jackson were very excited and supportive of this collaborative effort to save money and recycle!
