CHEROKEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WELCOMES HEAD START WITH IMPRESSIVE RIBBON CUTTING

On a visitor-ready exterior and interior, Cherokee Elementary was the site of a ribbon cutting for the partnership of Georgia Head Start and Cherokee Elementary School. Cherokee Principal, Dr. Wanda Jackson, greeted law enforcement, representatives of Sumter County Schools and visitors. "Today is special at Cherokee. We welcome you and we welcome a partnership with Georgia Head Start. Together, we will meet the needs and social threats on these children. We will enjoy the talents of Head Start professionals that were begun in 1966. We are one of 18 counties in Georgia to partner with Head Start. A 'Head Start' does begin at home," said Dr. Jackson.
Dr. Jackson then welcomed Sumter County Schools' Superintendent Dr. Roy Brooks to the podium. "Today, a vision of some individuals has come true. I welcome you all as we begin a new chapter of association with Head Start and Sumter County Schools. As the program was first introduced to me, I did not know enough data to welcome the union. But today, we cut the ribbon for the proud future of youngsters in Sumter County, "said Brooks. He continued to sight data about the large volume of information that young minds learn. "We must be award of data and see that kids are more receptive to information. Together, we will provide that information," continued Brooks.

The ribbon was then cut by Dr. Wanda Jackson, Principal of Cherokee Elementary and Mrs. Tina Todd (PEECH) and Mrs. Krystal Heath (Head Start). At the conclusion of the brief ceremony, guests were invited inside and met their young guides who thrilled with escort of the adult guests to favorite places in Cherokee. As the rooms and halls of Cherokee were enjoyed, power point videos of classrooms and activities of Cherokee were shown throughout the building.
