EDUCATORS IN SUMTER COUNTY SCHOOLS - Mr. Jared Worthy This is the first communication about the excellence of educators in Sumter County Schools. All school administrators have been requested to contact four teaching professionals in their schools who they deem to be outstanding "Educators in Sumter County Schools. Mr. Jared Worthy, Assistant Principal at Americus-Sumter High North begins this series.
Mr. Worthy is from Cordele, Georgia. In December, 2004, he received his B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University. In December, 2009, Mr. Worthy received his M. Ed in Educational Leadership and is currently pursuing his specialist degree in Educational leadership from Columbus State University. Worthy began his teaching career in Crisp County. As a 4th grade math teacher, he was grade level chairman, Response to Intervention (RTI) Co-chair, on the school leadership team, responsible for teaching the Georgia Performance Standards and maintained up-to-date records of assessment, attendance, planning, reports, conferences, and communications with parents. He also assisted in the development of curricular materials and acted as a resource contact and supporter for new staff members. He coordinated the programs for curriculum, technology, scheduling and procedures.
As stated on his resume, his objective is, "to excel as a leader in Sumter County." As Assistant Principal at North Campus, he partners with Principal Stacy Mack to maintain student discipline, observe teachers and he serve on the School Leadership Team. Mr. Worthy is the testing Coordinator for North Campus. As in Crisp County, he maintains up-to-date records of assessment, attendance, planning, reports, conferences and communication with parents. He also acts as a resource and contact for new staff members to provide each of them the support they need to help students excel in the classroom.
"My time here in Sumter County has been exciting. The changes that have occurred in this district and this school are a learning experience for us all. With Ms. Stacy Mack, our Principal, I have quickly learned about leadership-partnership as we work to address the needs of students in today's world. I join with Dr. Brooks as we witness 'a new beginning in Sumter County Schools,' and become one of the highest-achieving rural schools districts in Georgia," said Mr. Jared Worthy.
Primarily, Mr. Worthy is monitoring actions in the halls and classrooms of North Campus to ensure that our students here in Sumter County are receiving a world class education. He is adamant about providing the best customer service to all stakeholders and encourages everyone to come and visit North Campus to see the great things that are going on for our children. Here, he is updating a report of his findings.
