ES PANOL NOW AT STALEY MIDDLE SCHOOL As all schools partner for "A New Beginning" in Sumter County Schools, Staley Middle School Principal, Mrs. Victoria Harris, welcomed Mrs. Aida Vallalta Sapp to Staley Middle. Quickly, Mrs. Vallalta met other members of the Staley staff before review of her class day. "You will have several Mentor Teacher friends and other educators here at Staley will carefully provide all of the answers that you will need as you begin a Spanish program in our school," said Mrs. Harris.
Mrs. Vallalta outlined her plans to offer Spanish to grades 6,7,and 8. "I think that we will begin with a nine-week introduction to sixth graders. We will then offer beginning Spanish to another class on this grade level. Seventh grade will be different with two semesters of the language. Our eighth graders will have Spanish for one full year. Soon, all grades will more at ease with this new language offering," said Mrs. Vallalta.
"Bringing a foreign language to Staley is exciting. We welcome Mrs. Vallalta and assure her of a student body who is eager to become more involved in our changing world," said Mrs. Harris. Mrs. Vallalta if from Dawson, Georgia. She has two sons with college degrees and a daughter currently enrolled at Auburn University. "I am quite proud of my family. One son graduated from Georgia Southwestern State with his undergraduate and Master's degrees in Accounting. My second son attended and graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. My daughter will graduate from Auburn," offered the excited educator.
Mrs. Vallalta shared with Mrs. Harris of her plans for building a Spanish language program at Staley Middle. She vowed to take some days to ascertain the overall interest in the new language offering but quickly assured Mrs. Harris that her prior experiences would make the curriculum addition a positive move. "I like the challenge to 'become one of the highest-achieving rural school districts in Georgia.' I want to do my part," smiled Mrs. Vallalta.
