Harbuck, Thorn and Bush share Culinary win
MICHELLE BUSH OF SUMTER COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL WINS IN DISTRICT CULINARY COMPETITION
The culinary talents of the Sumter County Schools' Nutrition Program were again recognized at the 2011 Annual Culinary Competition of the Georgia third district Nutrition meeting.

Ms. Michelle Bush, Nutrition Manager of Sumter County Middle School won 1st Place with her Seafood Primavera in the Ethnic Entree Division. Mrs. Hazel Harbuck won 2nd Place with her Vegetable Stir Fry entry dish and 3rd Place in the Whole Grain Rice Dish.

Entrants must cook from three state-selected food groups and use duplicate recipes. Cooking skills are highlighted as presentation and flavor separate each entry.

The 3rd District Nutrition organization is composed of cafeteria management and cooks from 13 school districts. They meet twice each year. The February meeting includes the Culinary Arts Competition.

"I am proud of these women and all of our nutrition staff in Sumter County Schools. These two are repeat competition winners. I wish Michelle the best as she continues to the State Culinary Competition at the Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts School, in Atlanta," said Gloria Thorn, retiring School Nutrition Manager of Sumter County Schools.
