MILLION WORDS READ BY TOP READER AT SUMTER COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL
First recognition on the carefully organized Honors Day Program for 6th Graders at Sumter County Middle School, was the recognition of Million Word Readers for the school year. On the first webpage of Sumter Middle Schools, a banner insert proclaims these outstanding numbers. In Sumter Middle School, 8,621 books have been read for a total of over 162,075,845 words.

Media Director, Mrs. Jill Cochran, proudly approached the podium at the Honors Day festivities to share news and numbers of top readers at Sumter County Middle School. After calling the names of eleven students and presenting certificates to these young readers, Mrs. Cochran then called the names of the top two readers in the six grade. With the second highest number of words read was Prerana Kumar. She received a VISA gift card for $50.00. The top reader in the Million Word Reader program for 2011-2012 was Ozzi Ghimire with 3,739,274 words being read.  She received a $100.00 VISA gift card.
