CLASSES AT SUMTER PRIMARY CELEBRATE AND HONOR VOLUNTEERS
VOLUNTEERS HONORED AT SUMTER COUNTY PRIMARY SCHOOL Chairs were occupied in the Media Center of Sumter County Primary as over 72 invited individuals and community organization representatives were honored with words of appreciation, a certificate of recognition and breakfast. "Sumter County Primary has a great legacy of volunteer assistance. When I came, I thought some of you were teachers or staff at Sumter Primary. You were here EVERY day! Thanks you for being here and for enjoying these students as I do," said SCPS Principal, Mrs. Cindy Hughes.
"Sumter County Primary is a unique and changing school as we strive to allow students to become more aware of the impact of Fine Arts on their lives and on our nation. The annual 2nd Grade Overnight trip to Atlanta indicated the need to continue this trip and allow other students to witness another world and professional fine arts. Thanks to those who gave scholarships and help those who could not afford the total price. There are many who donate time, money and encouragement to these students and our staff. It takes many volunteers to provide the best for our students," continued Mrs. Hughes.
As volunteers were recognized, many had comments about their discoveries at Sumter County Primary. All agreed, "it is a pleasure to hear the excitement and enthusiasm of young voices."
Three classes entertained the guest volunteers. Here, classes of Mrs. Cadie Duke and Mrs. Rachel Arnold presented a lively melody concerning school work. Closing the show were students from Mrs. Mandy Butler's class who presented "V-O-L-U-N-T-E-E-R," to spirited lyrics.
