STALEY MIDDLE SCHOOL CONTINUES ATTENDANCE EXCELLENCE WITH 98% FOR JANUARY
Since school attendance record-keeping was begun in 2006, Attendance Officer, Coach Jimmy Green, has gathered data to compile his monthly report of attendance in Sumter County Schools. In five years, attendance protocol numbers have exceeded 95% in all eight Sumter County Schools. Sarah Cobb Elementary topped the five-year report with a 97% attendance record. In the initial report of 2006, Staley Middle School had a 94% attendance record, the lowest in the district. Since that first reporting year, Staley Middle's annual report has increased to 95%, 96% 96%, 97% and 97%. This month, Staley Middle School began their quest to top district attendance as they joined Sarah Cobb Elementary with a reported 98% school attendance for the most recent month's report.

The district report for January, 2012, had marginally decreased to 96%. However, Coach Green offered encouraging words for the future of attendance in Sumter County Schools. "When we review total data from 2006, the trend for improved attendance is promising. The numbers we use to compile this report indicate a gradual and improved awareness by parents concerning the importance of school attendance. With the cooperation of law enforcement, our courts, teachers and parents, we will continue to enjoy improving attendance numbers," said Green.

Here, Coach Green visits Staley Middle School Principal, Mrs. Victoria Harris, to deliver the January 2012 attendance report along with his thanks for a 98% report for the month.
