ASSOCIATES STRIVE FOR TOP MAINTENANCE OF SUMTER COUNTY SCHOOLS' PROPERTY
Maintaining all grounds and structures in Sumter County Schools takes talented manpower. Depending on the Job Order Requests from schools, projects are assigned to four members of the grounds crew or eight members of the maintenance crew of Sumter County Schools. Mr. Billy Thompkins is director of the combined department. Mrs. Hope Griggs is administrative assistant for the department.

"Our grounds and maintenance crew does a good job to maintain eight schools and the accompanying grounds. We join our Superintendent, Dr. Roy Brooks, relative to the curb appeal perception of our schools. We work to monitor and correct every faulty detail," said Thompkins.

With the continuing mission of energy conservation, security lighting issues are carefully monitored. Here, Mr. Curtis Walton is the operator with assistance by Mr. Williams Wells and Mr. Johnny Gaines, as they replace a light sensor in the gym entrance cover from the bus parking area between Sumter County Elementary and Sumter County Primary Schools.
