CHEROKEE ELEMENTARY HONORS "NEVER BEEN ABSENT" (NBA) STUDENTS
The corridors of all Sumter County Schools are filled with information       graphics and posters. At Cherokee Elementary School, "NBA" has a different meaning. On an entry hall wall, the names, photographs and graphic of a basketball hoop net, share the names of students who have "NEVER BEEN ABSENT" during the current nine weeks.

School Counselor, Mrs. Debbie Humphreys, monitors attendance and facilitates the upkeep of the NBA poster. "We have some 177 students on our NBA Bulletin Board. It is updated every nine weeks. All students love basketball and winning. The NBA takes on special meaning as they all strive to be NBA stars," said Mrs. Humphreys.

Before the information poster of NBA Students are, from left, Mrs. Humphreys, Michael Terry, Broderick Cobb, Antrezes Sharper, Marquis Williams and Jeremiah Wright.
