AMERICUS HIGH SCHOOL SINGERS OFFER TWO PERFORMANCES AT RYLANDER THEATER
Both November 29 and December 3, 2011, were filled with excitement at the Rylander Theater. The Americus-Sumter High Concert Choir presented their Holiday Showcase on November 29. On December 3, 2011, the famed Americus High School Singers revealed  their return to greatness with two performances. Entitled, "Can't Wait for Christmas," two shows were presented by the Singers on this December date. The presentations celebrated the return to live band accompaniment in almost 10 years. With solos, ensembles and group performances, the choreography and sounds of the group reminded some older audience members of the greatness of the singing group formed some 40 years ago.

Along with 33 singers, there are nine members of the Pit Band and 9 technical workers. Shelly Morris is President of the Singers Booster Club. Other officers are: Linda Mock-Vice President, Wray Skipper-Treasurer and Ivey Nunn- Secretary. Additionally, there are 13 other Booster Club Members.

In program notes, from Bradly Bunce, the director of The Singers, he wrote: "At the start of the 2011-12 school year, participation in Singers has more than doubled and we've seen a 50% increase in student enrollment in the Concert Choir. Womens  Ensemble, Advanced Choir, and, of course, show Choir. Thanks to the Singers Booster Club, we have added new show choir dress and concert choir dresses as well as matching tuxedos for each set. In addition, the Booster Club has provided new instruments to aid in the addition of the live band to our competitions. Thank you all for being here today and for your continued support. The Singers celebrate over 35 years of greatness in the school system. With increased patronage support,  greatness in the lives of these students is realized."

On the Rylander stage, the 2011 Americus High Singers open with a rousing number, "Christmas Time Is Here."
