AMERICUS-SUMTER HIGH STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN STATE JAZZ BAND CLINIC
Members of the Americus Sumter County High School Band participated in the Georgia Association of Jazz Educator's State High School Band Clinic this past weekend in Rome, Georgia. Corey Colbert, Caleb Edge, Michael Greene, and Javonte' Harper were recommended by their Director, Debra Hughes, to represent Sumter County Schools in this annual event which included some of the best high school jazz musicians from across the state. There were 6 jazz bands that rehearsed with their guest clinicians for two days and then presented a concert on Saturday Dec 3, 2011 at the campus of Berry College. Each of these students did a remarkable job and represented Sumter County well. "It was truly amazing to see each of these students grow in their musical abilities over the weekend," said Ms. Debra Hughes, Director of Band for Sumter County Schools.
