AMERICUS-SUMTER HIGH AG STUDENTS ACCEPTED TO TULSA SCHOOL OF WELDING
Americus Sumter FFA members Mickey Griffin and Oscar Chavira have both been accepted to attend the Tulsa School of Welding in Jacksonville, Florida. The Tulsa School of Welding is the oldest school of its kind in the United States and many top United States companies hire their best graduates.
Mickey is the son of Mr. Mickey and Mrs. Annie Griffin of Americus, Georgia. Mickey is the current President of the Americus Sumter Future Farmers of America, (FFA), and was on last year’s South Region FFA first place welding team. He was voted as “Mr. FFA” by his peers this school year. Oscar Chivira is the son of Mr. Oscar and Mrs. Silvia Chavira of Americus, Georgia. Oscar is the Vice-President of the Americus Sumter FFA and was also on last year’s South Region FFA first place welding team.
“Both FFA members have been a real pleasure to work with over the years. I am really proud to see that Mickey and Oscar are going to fulfill their dreams to become professional welders,” says Eric Dixon, Americus Sumter FFA Advisor and Ag Education Teacher.
