TERESA MANSFIELD'S "READ TO ME" PROGRAM GIVES AWAY FREE BOOKS

Mrs. Teresa Mansfield, a retired educator in the Sumter County School
system, has been giving away books to children ages birth to sixteen.
Ms. Mansfield has increased the program since 2006. "READ TO ME" is
designed to encourage parents to read with their children. To date,
over 13,000 books have been given. Some book donations have also been
made to senior citizens. She purchases books at thrift stores and yard
sales in southwest Georgia and gleefully accepts donated books from
great supporters in the community. To volunteer your assistance or
donate books to the program, contact Ms. Mansfield at
229-938-4644/tmansfield@mchsi.com
Ms. Teresa Mansfield's "READ TO ME" program will give away free
pre-loved/pre-owned childrens' books to 964 students in
pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first and second grades at Sumter
County Primary School Media Center, Friday, September 23 from 8:00 to
12:00 noon.

Unloading books in the parking lot of Cherokee Elementary are, from left, Mansfield's longtime friend, Ms. Jeannette Lamar, Cherokee Elementary Principal, Dr. Wanda Jackson and Ms. Mansfield.
