SUMTER COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL CELEBRATES FIRST "STUDENT OF THE MONTH" BREAKFAST FOR 2011-12
Sumter County Middle School celebrated its first"Student of the Month Breakfast" of the 2011-2012 school year on Thursday September 1st. Approximately 40 students and their parents and guardians were invited to the ceremony in which a full breakfast of sausage, bacon, eggs, grits, and biscuits were served. During the breakfast, each student was honored with a certificate and the positive comments from their nominating teachers were read aloud by Principal Kimothy Hadley, Assistant Principal Matthew Cullifer, and Media Specialist Jill Cochran.
"We celebrate our children every day," said Hadley, "and this ceremony allows us to come together to honor them even further.
The "Student of the Month Breakfast" has become a tradition at Sumter County Middle School, begun during the 2008-2009 school year. Each month students are nominated by their teachers for their outstanding citizenship, positive behavior, and academic achievement. Three Teachers of the Month are also recognized.
